Description	:	Katerina Vesely was born December 15, 1871 in the village of Jestrabi Lhota in Czechoslovakia. At the age of eight years, she came to America with her parents and siblings. They came directly to Knox county, Nebraska, where they settled on a homestead in the Pishelville community. She was educated in the district school and learned the economy and frugality of the pioneers. At the age of 20 years, she married Albert Slechta. They establish their home on the Niobrara River. Read More	Katerina Vesely was born December 15, 1871 in the village of Jestrabi Lhota in Czechoslovakia. At the age of eight years, she came to America with her parents and siblings. They came directly to Knox county, Nebraska, where they settled on a homestead in the Pishelville community. She was educated in the district school and learned the economy and frugality of the pioneers. At the age of 20 years, she married Albert Slechta. They establish their home on the Niobrara River. The couple was blessed with nine children, one dying in infancy. Mr. Slechta passed away in 1933. In the spring of 1935, she purchased a home in Verdigre, where she resided for nine years. Ill for about two years, Mrs. Slechta was taken to a Norfolk hospital about three weeks ago, seeking relief from her ailment. She departed from this earthly life, Thursday, July 20, 1944 at the age of 73 years, 7 months and 3 days. Surviving are four sons and four daughters, Camile Wavrunek of Walnut; Albert of Niobrara; Henry of Iowa; Martha Konopasek of Verdigre; William, Irene Svatos and James of Verdel; Sylvia Frank of Verdigre; 22 grandchilden and four great grandchildren; one brother, V.F.
