Description	:	Mrs. Katherina Walz wife of John Walz Sr. was born on August 10th 1855 in Krim Southern Russia. On Feb. 1st 1874 she was united into the bonds of Holy Matrimony with John Walz. This union the Lord blessed with nine children, 4 sons and 5 daughters. One son and three daughters have preceded their mother in death. The deceased has been in poor health for... Read More	Mrs. Katherina Walz wife of John Walz Sr. was born on August 10th 1855 in Krim Southern Russia. On Feb. 1st 1874 she was united into the bonds of Holy Matrimony with John Walz. This union the Lord blessed with nine children, 4 sons and 5 daughters. One son and three daughters have preceded their mother in death. In July of 1875 the deceased, together with her beloved husband came to America and located on a farm near Freeman, S.D. About twenty years ago Mr. and Mrs. J. Walz moved to Freeman. The deceased has been in poor health for many years, yet her condition at no time was considered critical until about four weeks ago when the fact was revealed that she suffered from cancer of the liver. In the last weeks of her life she had to endure severe pains. Her prayer to the Lord was that He may soon deliver her from evil and grant her a blessed end. In the early hours of Tuesday March 24th her prayer was answered and as we may confidently hope and believe was taken to the heavenly home above to be with Jesus her Saviour throughout eternity, in whom she trusted and believed in life and death. Funeral services were conducted last Friday afternoon at the home of the deceased and at the St. Paul's Lutheran church, Rev. G. Schaefer officiating. The text selected for the funeral sermon is recorded in Matthew 24, 13 "But he that endure unto the end, the same shall be saved." The deceased leaves to mourn her death, her husband John Walz, three sons Edward, Philip and George A. Walz; two daughters, Mrs. F. Jundt and Mrs. Henry Dubs, 39 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren besides many other relatives and friends. The Lord granted the deceased the high age of 75 years 7 months and 14 days. Internment was made in the Walz cemetery 8 miles South-west of Freeman. "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee a crown of life" Revelations 2, 10.
