Church January 4, 1848, and died April 16, 1888, aged 69 years and 24 days, having been a devoted Christian for more than 40 years. She was an invalid all her life. Her last illness was long and her sufferings great, but she bore all with great patience. She anxiously awaited her soul's release from its clay tenement. Newport Hoosier State Wednesday, April 25, 1888 Catherine A. Helt was born March 23, 1819. She united with the M.E. Church January 4, 1848, and died April 16, 1888, aged 69 years and 24 days, having been a devoted Christian for more than 40 years. She was an invalid all her life. Her last illness was long and her sufferings great, but she bore all with great patience. She anxiously awaited her soul's release from its clay tenement. The funeral services were conducted on Monday the 16th by Rev. W.A. Smith, in the Salem Church. A remarkable circumstance was alluded to in the service. It was that over 40 years ago, 4 persons united with the church at the same time. The deceased and her sister Nancy Helt, Joseph James, and David Mack, and the 3 survivors were present at the funeral. Her body was laid to rest in Helt's Prairie Cemetery. To my grand niece Mary Olive Stutsman, $100 of the money after the death of Nancy A. Helt. 4. I bequeath the remainder of my money after the death of Nancy A. Helt to my nephews and nieces - Alma E. Russell - and sons and daughters of Charles B. Helt and Celina Mitchell, to be divided equally. 5. I appoint my friend Huron R. Southard Executor.
