Read More	Katharine (Miller) Sluys, 89, of Great Falls, retired director of volunteers at Deaconess Hospital and publisher of Aurora Magazine, died from sudden cardiac Thursday, Jan. 24, at a Beehive Care Facility. Kathy was born in High River, Alberta on Dec. 27, 1923, and grew up in the Dupuyer area. She married Ralph Sluys and worked as an assistant abstracter in Cut Bank until Ralph was transferred with Western Airlines to Great Falls. Kathy was a lifelong volunteer in numerous organizations. She was hired to organize the first Department of Volunteer Services at the Deaconess Hospital, where she was employed as director of that department for 21 years, retiring in 1991. She then started and managed an employment agency in Great Falls. She also purchased a computer and began publishing the Aurora magazine, a triannual publication about life in the Great Falls area, which she published for over 25 years. Kathy assumed leadership positions in several organizations including American Legion Auxiliary, Montana Hospital Association, Toastmasters and Montana Republican Party. In 1975, she received the Great Falls Woman of Achievement Award and in 1976, was selected as Montana Woman of Achievement by Montana BPW. She was director of Montana Girls State for many years and served as Parliamentarian for WIFE, Montana Hospital Association Auxiliary, and Montana Nurses Association. She organized the Missouri River Manor Auxiliary in 1991. She loved cats and provided a home to numerous rescue cats. Her leisure activities included being at their cabin near Essex. She is survived by her husband of 68 years, her daughter, several nieces and nephews, and three cats. She was preceded in death by her only sibling, Ed Miller of Weiser, Idaho.
