Katherine Ann Gross was born on June 19, 1921, in Balta, ND, to Andrew and Mary (Shell) Gross. She attended country school at Tiffany #1, near New Rockford, ND. Read More	Katherine Ann House, 93, of Carrington, ND, passed away Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Griggs County Care Center in Cooperstown, ND, after a courageous battle with cancer. Katherine Ann Gross was born on June 19, 1921, in Balta, ND, to Andrew and Mary (Shell) Gross. She attended country school at Tiffany #1, near New Rockford, ND. Katherine worked in the dietary department of St. Johns Hospital in St. Paul, MN in 1941. She met Merlin House of Grace City, ND, in Durant, Oklahoma, in 1942, where they both worked for Archie Campbell Road Construction Company. They were united in marriage on April 29, 1943, in Minnewauken, ND. In 1944, they moved to a Grace City farm where they lived until retiring in 1983. They moved that year to Grace City, and in 1999, moved to Carrington. For 30 years they enjoyed winters in Arizona. Katherine made great apple pies and baked buns. She enjoyed crafting with plastic canvas and gave many away. Katherine was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in McHenry, and later Sacred Heart in Carrington. Katherine is survived by her children, Lynne (Alan) Jacobson, Muriel (John) Otto and Francis (Dee) House; 6 grandchildren, Alana Wendel; 7 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters, Lillian Massine and Marjorie (Keith) Wright; 2 sisters-in-law, Gladys House and Monica Gross; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002, a sister, Beatrice Van Diest, and a brother, Peter Gross.
