DEMUTH Passed Away in the David City Hospital. Mrs. Katherine Demuth, wife of Nicholas M. Demuth of Bone Creek township, died in the David City hospital at 7:30 o'clock Wednesday evening; Aug. 4, from blood poisoning after illness lasting seventeen days. She was taken sick July 10 and was immediate1y brought to the David City Hospital, where all that skilled medical treatment and efficient and faithful nursing could do was done. Her husband and children, at her bedside much of the time during her illness, were with her when she died. On the morning following Mrs. Demuth's, death she was taken to her home in Bone Creek township. The funeral services were held in St. Mary's' church, Luxemburg, in Savannah township, on Friday, Aug. 6. There was a large attendance of friends to pay respect to the memory Mrs. Demuth, who was highly regarded by a large circle of friends. Rev. Father Mock, pastor of St. Mary's church, Luxemburg, had charge of the funeral services. He was assisted by Father Hoffman of Bellwood, Rev. Father Hoffman of Falls City and Rev. Father Bickert of Rulo, the last two named being former pastors of St. Mary's church, Luxemburg. Requiem high mass was sung by Father Hoffman, of Falls City and an eloquent sermon was preached by him in which heartfelt sympathy for the bereaved relatives was expressed especially for the bereaved husband and children. Interment was in St Mary's cemetery, Luxemburg. The pallbearers were five brothers of Mrs. Demuth and the brother of Mr. Demuth, John Beckius, Nick Beckius, Peter Beckius Matt Beckius, Neal Beckius and J. W Demuth. Mrs. Demuth was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Nicholas Beckius, early settlers of Butler county. She was born in Belmont, Wisconsin, August, 21 1877. When she was one year old her parents moved to Nebraska settling in Colfax county, where they and she lived for three years, then moving to Butler county. She was married to N. M. Demuth in this county February 1, 1898. Four children were born to Mr. and Mrs. Demuth namely, Nicholas, Alphonse, Genevieve and Joseph. They and her husband survive her. She is survived also by her mother and five brothers and six sisters, namely John Beckius of Cedar Rapids, Neb., Mrs. Mary Schmidt of Bellwood, Nicholas, Peter, Matthew, Cornelius, Beana and Ruth Beckius of Octavia, Mrs. AnnaVandervegt of Cedar Rapids, Mrs. Lena Vandervegt of Edholm and Mrs. Elizabeth Meysenburg of David City, twin sister.
