Hasemann, well and favorably known resident in the Scribner community for 67 years, passed away at her home in this city last Friday afternoon, Aug. 27, after more than a year of illness. She had reached the age of 68 years and 30 days. As Katherine Christina Muller, the deceased was born on July 28, 1880, in Oldenburg, Germany, and before reaching her first birthday she came with her parents to America, landing in this county on July 3, 1881. The Muller family settled on a farm in Cuming county. As a child she was baptized in the Lutheran faith and was later confirmed therein at St. Paul’s Lutheran church with the late Rev. Fred Wupper as pastor. She was an interested member of that church and a faithful member of the Ladies Aid. On May 26, 1904, she was united in marriage to Henry W. Hasemann at St. John’s Lutheran church. The couple then made their home for 34 years on the farm which is now operated by their son, Harvey. After diligent and successful years of labor together, Mr. and Mrs. Hasemann retired from active farming and moved into a comfortable home in Scribner in 1938. Only four years of retirement together was granted them for Mr. Hasemann was called from this life in 1942. Alone, but interested in her family and the community, Mrs. Hasemann continued the affairs of her home. A year ago last May it became apparent that had been seized by a serious affliction. Every possible attention was given her with the hope that the disorder might be cured. For months there were days when there was hope for recovery only to find that cure was humanly impossible. Mrs. Hasemann was tenderly cared for by her children, at times resting in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Louis Volpp while in the days of her rapidly declining condition she was skillfully cared for by her daughter, Mrs. Mrs. Leroy Lebsock. Mourning her death are her three children, Mrs. Louis Volpp and Harvey Hasemann of Scribner, and Mrs. Leroy Lebsock of Grand Island. Also surviving are five brothers, Henry F. Muller, George Muller and Adolph Muller of Scribner, and Herman Muller and Fred Muller of Wakefield. There are four grandchildren. Funeral services were held at 2 o’clock Monday afternoon at St. Paul’s Lutheran church, east of Scribner, the Rev. Hugo H. F. Welchert conducting the last rites. Interment was made in the church cemetery.
