Read More	Elizabethton--Mrs. Alfred Taylor Shell, 77, is dead at her home on Sunset Hill here. Death occurred yesterday afternoon, after an illness of several weeks. Mrs. Shell, who was one of Carter County's best known women,, came to Elizabethton from Virginia 50 years ago. She was affectionately known to many people as "Ma" Shell, perhaps because of her readiness to aid the less fortunate residents of the community. Her influence was felt for many years in community and civic affairs, and she had a host of friends. She was born in Floyd, Va., in 1860. Before her marriage to the late Alfred Taylor Shell, she was Miss Kitty Coralee LeSueur. She was a life-long member of the Methodist Episcopal Church South. Survivors include two sons, Alex Lee and Willard Graham, both prominent in Elizabethton affairs; one granddaughter, Miss Mary Louise Brumit of Elizabethton; and four sisters, Mrs. Jennie West of Johnson City, Mrs. Ella Turner of Riner, Va., Mrs.. J. A. Sowers of Floyd, Va., and Mrs. J. Q. Adams of Elizabethton. Two daughters, Nancy Carrie Shell and Lucille Virginia Brumit preceded her in death. Funeral services will be conducted from the residence, 215 West F Street, Thursday at 2 p.m., with Rev. S. H. Austin, assisted by Circuit Judge Ben Allen, in charge. Mrs. Fred Witherow, Mrs. Dungan Rhudy and Mrs. Charles Toncray will have charge of the music. Pallbearers will be Messrs. James Perry, Paul Hendrickson, Fred Hathaway, P. P. Bain, Bob Donnelly and Frank Dungah. Flower bearers will be Miss Roberta Pinson, Mrs. Fred Wingfield, Mrs. George F. Duggger, Mrs. James Perry, Miss Margaret Armstrong, Mrs. Nat Williams, Mrs. P.P. Bain, Ms. Harry Gillihan, Mrs. Bob Allen, Mrs. John Nave, Miss Erma Jenkins, Mrs. Walter Sammons, Miss Iva Morrell, Mrs. Anna Lee Shell, Mrs. Bruce Smith and Mr. F.F. Perry.
