Description	:	Katherine Erthum, daughter of Peter and Margaret Dondlinger, was born January 28, 1871, at Port Washington, Wis. She departed this life April 23, 1956, at Roselawn Home in Geneva at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 25 days. At the age of 14, she and her family came to Fillmore County, Nebraska, settling on a farm northwest of Shickley. Read More	Katherine Erthum, daughter of Peter and Margaret Dondlinger, was born January 28, 1871, at Port Washington, Wis. She departed this life April 23, 1956, at Roselawn Home in Geneva at the age of 85 years, 2 months and 25 days. At the age of 14, she and her family came to Fillmore County, Nebraska, settling on a farm northwest of Shickley. She was united in marriage to Nicklous Erthum May 9, 1892, in St. Joseph Church at York. They lived in Chicago four months, after which they returned to Nebraska to live two years on a farm in York County. They then moved to a farm northwest of Shickley. In 1920 they moved to a farm in Adams County, south of Hastings. In 1939 they retired, making their home in Hastings until the death of Mr. Erthum, June 30, 1950. The deceased then spent her time with her children until the fall of 1953, when she entered Roselawn Home in Geneva where she spent the last years of her life. To this union were born five sons and five daughters, all of whom survive. They are Marguerite, Mrs. William Reinsch of Shickley; Rose, Mrs. Otto Carl of Sutton; Genevieve, Mrs. Pete Marson of Geneva; Louise, Mrs. Earl Churchill of Hastings; Loretta, Mrs. William Hastings of Gothenburg; John of Ravenna, Al of Geneva, George of Hastings, Otto of Portland, Ore., and Laurence of Ogallala. Also surviving are five sons-in-law, five daughters-in-law; three brothers, Emil of Geneva, Simon of Lincoln and William of Des Moines, Ia.; 45 grandchildren; 76 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her husband , Nicklous, seven brothers and three sisters. Funeral services were conducted at St. Joseph Church in Geneva by Rev. Paul Ulenberg Thursday, April 26, at 9:30 a.m. Interment was in St. Joseph Cemetery in Geneva beside her husband. The choir was composed of children of St. Joseph school. Pallbearers were Daniel Gaudreault, Victor Gruenemeier, Clarence Reinsch, Francis Reinsch, Herbert Reinsch and Lolan Krause.
