Description	:	WATERVILLE - Katherine E. (Snell) Lewis, 86, died on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Oak Grove Center in Waterville. She was born in Palermo on June 17, 1927, the daughter of the late Eli and Leota (White) Snell. Katherine was a very thoughtful and caring person toward all who knew her. She was gracious and accepting of everyone. She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family on any occasion. (Snell) Lewis, 86, died on Sunday, May 18, 2014, at Oak Grove Center in Waterville. She was born in Palermo on June 17, 1927, the daughter of the late Eli and Leota (White) Snell. Katherine was a very thoughtful and caring person toward all who knew her. She was gracious and accepting of everyone. She was a wonderful, loving mother and grandmother. She enjoyed spending time with family on any occasion. Katherine was known for having a great sense of humor and always enjoyed a good laugh. Katherine had been employed for many years by Augusta Mental Health Institute until she retired. During her time there, she was recognized and honored as "employee of the year" in 1984. Katherine was predeceased by her husband, Harold T. Lewis, of 29 years; and also her companion, Robert Powell (71333892), of 32 years. She was also predeceased by her son, Harold R. Lewis, in 2006; four brothers, Leland, Richard, Walter and Stanley; and three sisters, Frances, Evelyn and Doris. She is survived by her two sons, Carlton Lewis and his wife, Wendy, of Freeport, and Calvin Lewis and his wife, Anne, of Albion; three daughters, Brenda Gagne, of Augusta, Patricia Chauvin and her husband, Wayne, of Palermo, and Deborah Lewis, of Roanoke, Va.; her companion's children, Allen and Rachelle; her 29 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Special thanks go out to the staff and residents at Oak Grove Center for all the care and friendship during Katherine's stay. Special thanks as well to the MaineGeneral Medical Center Hospice staff for their kind care. Burial will be at Chadwick Hill Cemetery in South China.
