She reached the age of 63 years and 9 months. Katherine was born to Gerhard and Anna (Froese) Goossen at Rosenort, Manitoba, on October 20, 1899. Here she grew to womanhood and received her education. In her early years she felt her lost condition and found peace through the Blood of the Lamb. Upon confession of Faith she was baptized into the Church of God in Christ, Mennonite, on January 26, 1916, by the late Minister Hiram Mininger. On January 23, 1921, she was married to Carl Quasso of Park River, N. Dak. and later moved to Rosenort, Man. To this union three sons and three daughters were born. Two sons preceded her in death, one in infancy and Louis in young manhood. In 1939, father Quasso's health began to fail and in spite of medical aid he was called home on January 21, 1940. I, Dietrict Giesbrecht, a widower with a family, most of whom were on their own, found a helpmate in this mother, Mrs. Katherine Quasso. On June 10, 1946, we were united in holy matrimony by the late Minister Jacob F. Barkman. We shared joys and sorrows for 18 years; 11 of these in the Lorrette district on the farm and the remaining years in Steinbach. When mother's health began to fail, we sought medical aid. The doctor diagnosed her case as cancer and she was hospitalized. The many times that spiritual conversation was possible she always gave full assurance of being ready to meet her Maker. We regret her departure which came so soon. She leaves to mourn her deeply sorrowing husband and family. Besides the husband she is survived by three daughters and one son, five stepdaughters, three stepsons and 38 grandchildren, as follows: Eugene of the home; Pauline (Mrs. Alfred Penner) Whitemouth, Manitoba; Esther (Mrs. Niel Penner) Lorrette, Manitoba; Geraldine (Mrs. Eldon Warkentin) Ste. Anne, Manitoba. Father's children: Esther (Mrs. Albert Penner) Ste. Anne, Manitoba; Ella (Mrs. Edward Beer) Winnipeg, Manitoba; Caroline (Mrs. Elmer Penner) Ste. Anne, Manitoba; Martha (Mrs. Dave Toews) Minneapolis, Minnesota; Tille (Mrs. Walter Melenchuck) Fort William, Ontario; Dick of Winnipeg, Manitoba; Leon of Transcoma, Manitoba. She also leaves two brothers, George F. Goossen and Frank F. Goossen, and five sisters: Anna Goossen, Margaret Goossen, Elizabeth (Mrs. Phillip Miller), Lena (Mrs. Edward Penner) and Emma (Mrs. Frank Toews). We do not mourn as those who have no hope, for mother longed for her home above. We much rather would have her stay, but God's ways are always best. We sincerely thank all the friends and relatives who have visited, and comforted Mother during her suffering.-The bereaved family. The last mile of the way I have travelled, The last day of my life I have lived; I've gone to a place where awaiting The beauties of heaven content. Your homes I will never more enter, My loved ones, I've bid you good-bye; I've crossed death's darkening valley To gloryland up in the sky. Here loved ones are watching and waiting, Are singing in glorious song; In fulness I hear now, the music, Sweet carols of the heavenly throng. I'm looking your way, my loved ones I trust when the roll's called above, No one of you there will be missing To live in the realms of love. Funeral services were held in Steinbach, on Friday, July 26, 1963. Min. Clifford Mastre of Grafton, N. Dak. assisted by Min. John M. Penner of Ste. Anne, spoke comforting words on several scriptures.
