Mahler _______________ Many from the Sterling community went to Tecumseh Tuesday afternoon to attend the funeral of Mrs. Wm. Mahler who died in the Johnson County hospital last Friday night, May 30, 1958. She had been in failing health for some time but her last illness was of short duration and she was in the hospital only a week. Her age was 67 years, 7 months and 11 days. Katherine Friedericka Wagner was born near Nebraska City, Nebr., on Oct. 19, 1890. She was reared near Sterling, Nebr., and at the age of 13 1/2 years she was confirmed in St. John's Lutheran church, Sterling, by Pastor Sick. Forty-two years ago she was married to Wm. Mahler, the ceremony taking place in the Maple Grove church near Tecumseh. After their marriage they lived at St. Mary a short time, then on a farm near Sterling for three years, and from there moved to the Maple Grove community where they lived until 1945. When they retired from the farm they located in Tecumseh and had since lived there. Since 1936 Mrs. Mahler had been a faithful member of St. John's Lutheran church in Tecumseh. One daughter was born to the Mahler's but she lived only seven hours. Besides her husband, Mrs. Mahler is survived by one step-son, Harold Mahler of Tecumseh. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in St. John's church in Tecumseh, the Rev. P. W. Sellman officiating. Burial was in St. John' cemetery northwest of Sterling.
