Description	:	Obituary from Helena's Independent Record 02/16/2006: Katherine Canoy passed away Feb. 13, 2006, at the Cooney Convalescent Home in Helena. She was born July 18, 1920, in Seattle, to Leo and Anna Gleason. She grew up in Issaquah, Wash., on a small farm with five brothers and two sisters. During World War II she moved to Juneau, Alaska. She met and married Roger Nash. They had three children, Leo, Jerry and Marilyn. They later divorced. Read More	Obituary from Helena's Independent Record 02/16/2006: Katherine Canoy passed away Feb. 13, 2006, at the Cooney Convalescent Home in Helena. She was born July 18, 1920, in Seattle, to Leo and Anna Gleason. She grew up in Issaquah, Wash., on a small farm with five brothers and two sisters. During World War II she moved to Juneau, Alaska. She met and married Roger Nash. They had three children, Leo, Jerry and Marilyn. They later divorced. Katherine moved to Great Falls, in 1950, where she met the love of her life, Lawrence Canoy, and they married on Aug. 22, 1950. They had two children, Charlotte and Colleen. They made their home in Wolf Creek and Helena. Katherine was a homemaker. She loved baking bread, cinnamon rolls and pies. She also enjoyed playing cards and games. She crocheted beautiful doilies for everyone she met. After Lawrence died on Dec. 26, 1991, Katherine moved to Idaho Falls and lived with her daughter, Charlotte, for several years. She spent the later years of her life at Eagle's Manor where she made many friends. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren, and also traveling. Survivors include a son, Jerry (Carol) Nash of Bridger; and daughters, Colleen (Jeff) Rhode of Helena, Charlotte (Steve) Pottorff of Idaho Falls, Idaho, and Marilyn (Van) Alke of Manhattan. Other survivors include nine grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; brothers Bernard, Leo, Danny, Harold and Joe; and sisters, Anna Marie and Eleanor. Private memorial graveside services will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, at the Montana State Veterans Cemetery at Fort Harrison under the direction of Retz Funeral Home.
