Description	:	Katherine Jane (Hinkle) Fatz, 78, died of natural causes Saturday Aug 16, 2008 at a local hospital. Katherine is survived by her daughters, Dorothy (Pete) von Holtum of St. Ignatius and Jane Buxengard of Great Falls; a son, Lyle Fatz of Great Falls; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a very special friend and sister-in-law, Jean Hinkle. Katherine was born Jan. 21, 1930, in Kentucky. She was raised and educated in Kentucky until the age of 12, when she moved to Portland, Ore. Katherine is survived by her daughters, Dorothy (Pete) von Holtum of St. Ignatius and Jane Buxengard of Great Falls; a son, Lyle Fatz of Great Falls; 11 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a very special friend and sister-in-law, Jean Hinkle. Katherine was born Jan. 21, 1930, in Kentucky. She was raised and educated in Kentucky until the age of 12, when she moved to Portland, Ore. She graduated in 1947 from Ogden Meadows High School in Vancouver, Wash. She married Victor Fatz in Portland in 1949. Victor and Katherine farmed in the Carter area for 32 years. In the 1960s, she owned and operated "Kathyann's Gifts of Distinction" in Fort Benton. In the 1970s, she worked at the Fort Benton State Liquor Store, and in the 1980s and 1990s owned and operated Dominick's Bar and Supper Club with her family. She was always a supportive member of the Democratic Party, and was the first woman to serve on the Fort Benton School Board. Katherine loved her children and her grandchildren; she also loved to keep a beautiful garden and flowers. She loved to read, and had read all of her life. She is preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Victor; sons, Paul Fatz and Mark Fatz; her parents; brothers David, Dan and Bill; and her sisters, Jackie and Dorothy.
