KATHERINE (GAMM) BOEKENHEUER OBITUARY After suffering poor health for a period of almost two years, Mrs. Anna Katherine (Gamm) Boekenheuer passed away last Tuesday afternoon about 2:00 o'clock, July 30, 1940 at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 24 days. She was born September 6, 1868 at Helden in the Provence of Wurttemberg, Germany, the child of God-fearing parents, Leonard and Caroline Gamm. KATHERINE (GAMM) BOEKENHEUER OBITUARY After suffering poor health for a period of almost two years, Mrs. Anna Katherine (Gamm) Boekenheuer passed away last Tuesday afternoon about 2:00 o'clock, July 30, 1940 at the age of 71 years, 10 months and 24 days. She was born September 6, 1868 at Helden in the Provence of Wurttemberg, Germany, the child of God-fearing parents, Leonard and Caroline Gamm. Soon after birth she was baptised in the Lutheran faith, and in accord with Lutheran custom she was taught the way of salvation. April 23, 1882, at the age of 13 she was confirmed in this faith in the Lutheran Church at Uterhelmbach, Germany. Five years later with her brothers Charles and Lewis she emigrated to America, arriving in New York May 12, 1887. They came to the home of another brother, Leonard, near Aurora, Iowa. While there she worked ar varios places until the time of her marriage. She was united in marriage to Mr. Fred Boekenheuer on Sept 6, 1889 at Strawberry Point, Iowa. Two children were born to this union, Mrs. Otto Skibbe and Fred at home. In February of 1930 Mr. Boekenheuer preceded his wife in death. She had taken charge of the farm during his ill-health and continued to manage it after his death until the Fall of 1937. At this time she and her son retired to the home she owned in Arlington. For almost two years, Mrs. Boekenheuer suffered Ill-health. At times she rallied and was able to be about her home, to visit friends, attend church and Ladies Aid of which she was a member. Last week-end she felt unusually well and so her sudden death Tuesday of this week was a shock to both relatives and friends. Mrs. Boekenheuer was a life long member of the Lutheran Church remaining steadfast in its teachings despite trial and tribulations of which she had many. Her two interests were her Church and her family. Her death is mourned by her two children, Mrs. Otto Skibbe of Strawberry Point and Fred of Arlington, Iowa; two grandchildren, Ben and Irene Skibbe of Strawberry Point, Iowa, besides other relatives and many friends. May God grant her peaceful rest until the day of Christ's returning.
