Description	:	Katherine "Katie" Farnum, 90, of Miles City passed away on Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at the Holy Rosary Extended Care Facility in Miles City. She was born in Jamestown, N.D., on Sept. 10, 1915, the daughter of Lawrence and Pauline Kaneig Meixner. They moved to Miles City where her father worked on the Milwaukee Railroad. Read More	Katherine "Katie" Farnum, 90, of Miles City passed away on Friday, Oct. 28, 2005, at the Holy Rosary Extended Care Facility in Miles City. She was born in Jamestown, N.D., on Sept. 10, 1915, the daughter of Lawrence and Pauline Kaneig Meixner. They moved to Miles City where her father worked on the Milwaukee Railroad. Her father died from an accident on the job. Her mother then married Jacob Schumacher and they moved to the Coalwood Community. There she attended grade school at the Iron School. Following her schooling, she worked for several neighbors before moving to Miles City. She went to work at the Farnum Dairy where she met Abner, her husband. She then went on to beauty school in Sheridan, Wyo. Her first job was in Thermopolis, Wyo., and then in Gillette, Wyo. She retuned to Miles City and continued working at Farnum Dairy. The couple were married on July 16, 1941. They purchased the ranch from Mr. Farnum's father in 1953. They sold the ranch in the valley in the fall of 1970 and purchased a place north of Forsyth on the Big Porcupine Creek. They lived there for two years and then moved to a smaller place near Hathaway. They later moved to Miles City where they had remained since. Her survivors include her husband, Abner Farnum of Miles City; two daughters, Marie Kluver, and her husband, Karson, of Rosebud Creek and Isabell Katzman, and her husband, Tim, of Burlington, Wis.; six grandchildren, Jan, Abner, Kathleen and Freeman Kluver and Tanya and Tyler Katzman; a sister, Martha Zeilstra of Miles City, MT; a brother, Howard Schumacher of Portland, Ore.; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. Funeral services were on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2005, at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church in Miles City. Interment followed in the Custer County Cemetery.
