Description	:	Mrs. W. H Preston or "Grandma Preston", as she was called by many, passed away in Aberdeen early Thursday morning, Dec. 6, after abouth ten years of failing health. She was 94 years old at the time of her death. Katherine Lanning was born in Honeyville, N. Y., August 5, 1851, and on February 22, 1875 was married to Warren H. Preston in East Saginaw, Mich. To this union nine children were born, two of whom died in infancy. They came to South Dakota and settled near Ipswich in 1886, and in 1890, they came to Groton, where she resided... She was 94 years old at the time of her death. Katherine Lanning was born in Honeyville, N. Y., August 5, 1851, and on February 22, 1875 was married to Warren H. Preston in East Saginaw, Mich. To this union nine children were born, two of whom died in infancy. They came to South Dakota and settled near Ipswich in 1886, and in 1890, they came to Groton, where she resided until the time of her death. Her husband W. H. Preston preceded her in death in 1910. Left to morn the loss of their mother are Warren R. and Roy of Groton; George of Spokane, Wash.; Lewis of Vancouver, B. C.; Bruce of Saskatchewan, Canada; Mrs. R. W. Kraft of Pasedena, Calif., and Mrs. James A. Rix of Chino, Calif. Other survivors are a sister, Mrs. Susan Jerman of Warren, Pa, who is 97 years; also 2 nieces, Mrs. M. J. Bingham of Groton and Mrs. Roy Rix of Warren, PA., and a grand niece, Mrs. Luther Gullickson of Langford. Mrs. Preston was a member of the Christian Science church and was truly a Christian woman and a devoted wife and mother. Funeral services were held at the Paetznick Funeral Home at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon with Mrs. Agnes Mathieu of Aberdeen in charge. Music was furnished by Mrs. Melvin Hanson of Aberdeen, accompanied by Mrs. Joe Williams of Groton. Pallbearers were FredFrommel, Vance E. Miller, Geo. Riggs, R. W. Bradshaw, Clayton Deitz ad Ewald Kuehnert. The remains rest beside her husband in the Groton Union Cemetery. The death of this devoted mother marks the passing of another one of Groton's early pioneers who enjoyed a large circle of friends in Groton and vicinity.
