Description	:	MOORESVILLE - Katherine McLaughlin West, 89, of Mooresville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Sadie Stutts McLaughlin and Clarence McLaughlin. Katherine was a member of First Baptist Church of Mooresville. She was a homemaker and an excellent cook. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and entertaining family and friends in her home. Read More	MOORESVILLE - Katherine McLaughlin West, 89, of Mooresville, passed away Saturday, Feb. 18, 2012, at her home. She was the daughter of the late Sadie Stutts McLaughlin and Clarence McLaughlin. Katherine was a member of First Baptist Church of Mooresville. She was a homemaker and an excellent cook. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her family and entertaining family and friends in her home. In addition to her parents, Katherine was preceded in death by her husband of 37 years, John William (J. W.) West in 2010; husband, Hugh Cecil Belk in 1966, and her grandson, James Andrew Thompson. Katherine is survived by her four daughters and sons-in-law, Aggie Belk Barrier (Ron) of Mooresville, Linda Belk Kramer (Edward) of Fort Mill, S.C., Anne Belk Thompson (Jim) of Dunn, and Nancy Belk Brawley (Mark) of Mt. Ulla; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Margaret Goodnight. Service and Visitation: Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012, at First Baptist Church, Mooresville, with Rev. Steve Sellers officiating. Burial will follow in Centenary United Methodist Church Cemetery, Mt. Ulla. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, at Cavin-Cook Funeral Home in Mooresville. West, 97, of Mooresville, passed away on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Lake Norman Regional Medical Center. He was born on Sept. 18, 1912 to the late Dalton C. and Winnie Crow West in Kershaw, S.C. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Floree West; brothers, D.T. and Ernest West; sister, Myrtle Faulkenbury. Mr. West served in the U.S. Navy in World War II. He was employed by Duke Energy, formerly Duke Power Company, at the Marshall Steam Station Plant for 34 years in the utility area. He has been married to Katherine McLaughlin West 37 years. He is the oldest male member of First Baptist Church, Mooresville. Surviving Mr. West is wife, Katherine McLaughlin West; daughters, Margaret "Aggie" Barrier and husband, Ron, Linda Kramer and husband, Edward, of Fort Mill, S.C., Anne Thompson and husband, Jim, of Dunn and Nancy Brawley and husband, Mark, of Mt. Ulla; sister, Faye Bennett of Kershaw, S.C.; eight grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. Funeral services for Mr. West will be Friday, July 16, at 6 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Mooresville, with Dr. Jerry Cloninger officiating. Visitation for family and friends will be one hour prior to the service at the church. A graveside service will also be held at Kershaw City Cemetery, Kershaw, S.C. at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 17.
