Description	:	OBITUARY: Mrs. Kate Wickersham, aged 91, well-known pioneer resident of Salt Springs township, died at her home near Fall River, December 8, following a stroke of paralysis suffered ten days before. Mrs. Wickersham was born January 20, 1849, in Harrisburg, Ohio. she came with her parents to Kansas in 1870, locating on a claim about six miles east of Severy. Read More	OBITUARY: Mrs. Kate Wickersham, aged 91, well-known pioneer resident of Salt Springs township, died at her home near Fall River, December 8, following a stroke of paralysis suffered ten days before. Mrs. Wickersham was born January 20, 1849, in Harrisburg, Ohio. she came with her parents to Kansas in 1870, locating on a claim about six miles east of Severy. She was united in marriage to William Q. Wickersham May 27, 1874, and they came to their farm just north of what is now Fall River. She lived the remainder of her life on the same farm, a span of 66 years. Her husband preceded her in death on December 17, 1904. To Mr. and Mrs. Wickersham were born six children, all of whom survive her; Viola Belle Heins and Josephine Eva Forbes, of near Cherryvale; Harry Ellis Wickersham, Ida Lucina Palmer, Wilber Q. Wickersham, and Katy Jane Farmer, all of Fall River. She also is survived by fifteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Mrs. Wickersham was one of the first school teachers in this section of the state having taught several terms of school in the neighborhood of Severy before her marriage. Having come to Kansas in the early days, she experienced the privations of the early pioneers. She had a host of friends who will miss her as her home was always open to all. Funeral service was held at 2:00 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, December 10 ...Interment was in Charleston cemetery.
