Description	:	MADISON - Katherine Winifred (Stickney) (Kinney) Lavoie of Madison went to her eternal home on Feb. 7, 2016, at the Somerset Residential Care Center in Madison. She was born on Feb. 15, 1931, in Blaine, to the late Samuel Fred and Sarah Jane (Shields) Stickney. She was the youngest of 15 children. As a young girl she worked picking potatoes in Aroostook County, the family later moved to Somerset County for her health. She loved all of the titles that she carried through life. Read More	MADISON - Katherine Winifred (Stickney) (Kinney) Lavoie of Madison went to her eternal home on Feb. 7, 2016, at the Somerset Residential Care Center in Madison. She was born on Feb. 15, 1931, in Blaine, to the late Samuel Fred and Sarah Jane (Shields) Stickney. She was the youngest of 15 children. As a young girl she worked picking potatoes in Aroostook County, the family later moved to Somerset County for her health. She loved all of the titles that she carried through life. These titles were mom, mammy, grammy, sister, daughter, aunt, cousin, and friend. She loved to cook for her family and friends; you could always count on having something to eat when you went to visit. She loved to volunteer; her favorite place to volunteer was Maple Crest Nursing Home in Madison. She twice won the Governor's Award for volunteering. She was a devoted member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints for over 50 years. She even served a mission for the church in her later years. She served at The Family History Center in Salt Lake City, Utah. She is survived by two sons, Leland Kinney and his wife Elaine (Sharpe) Kinney of Madison, and Jeffrey Allen Lavoie of Millinocket; and one daughter, Lorraine Kinney Barron and her husband John of Athens; one sister, Frances Kilcollins of Mars Hill, as well as twelve grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents; by her brothers Bert, Randolph, Raymond, George, Charlie, Leon, Gordon, Emery, Mervil, Erwin and Ellery; and two sisters, Lucy Cousins and Alice Harrington; and several nieces and nephews. The family would like to express their thanks to Somerset Residential Care Center staff and Maine General Hospice for all the wonderful care they provided her. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 10, 2016, from 6-8 p.m. at Giberson Funeral Home in Madison. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, Feb. 11, 2016, at 10:30 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints on Malbons Mill Road in Skowhegan. Arrangements are under the care and direction of Giberson Funeral Home, Madison.
