Services were Friday, April 4, at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. The Rev. Kenneth MacLeod officiated. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Little Rock. Services were Friday, April 4, at First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. The Rev. Kenneth MacLeod officiated. Burial was in Pleasant View Cemetery, Little Rock. Katheryn Peters was born to Harm and Magretha (Voss) Peters on April 7, 1910, on a farm northwest of Little Rock. She attended rural school and graduated from Little Rock High School in 1927. After school, she and her brother George farmed their mother's farm. She also worked part-time in a general merchandise store. She married Sam Zylstra on Jan. 23, 1930. The couple continued farming her mother's farm, where her mother lived with them until she died. In 1934, they moved to a farm west of Little Rock and farmed there for 15 years. They built a new set of farm buildings two miles northwest of Little Rock, finishing in 1948. Mr. Zylstra died in July 1962. She remained on the farm until 1971 when she moved to Little Rock. Mrs. Zylstra was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Little Rock. She was a Sunday School teacher and superintendent for 25 years, summer camp counselor for seven years, the first woman elder and Clerk of Sessions. She was influential in organizing Vacation Bible School, the cradle roll script and a board member of Senior Sunrise Apartments. She was also a member of Ladies Aid Society, Happy Hour Society, Esther Circle and the Women's Association. Survivors include one son, Leland (Velma) Zylstra, Alta, Iowa; two daughters, Gloria (Emerson "Whitey") Russman and Glenda (Edward) DeBoer, all of Luverne; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one stepgreat-grandson; and many nieces and nephews. Mrs. Zylstra was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Sam, two great-granddaughters in infancy, one sister, one sister in infancy and six brothers.
