Description	:	Kathleen Edith (Young) Mensching, 87, passed away Monday, March 2. She was born on Aug. 12, 1927, to Oliver and Estella (Petersen) Young in rural Orson. Kathleen attended Echo Country School through 8th grade, then continued on to Pisgah High School and graduated in 1946. She married Orville Mensching on Jan. 30, 1947, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs. Married for 63 years, the couple had two children, Lorraine (Lori) and Marvin. Read More	Kathleen Edith (Young) Mensching, 87, passed away Monday, March 2. She was born on Aug. 12, 1927, to Oliver and Estella (Petersen) Young in rural Orson. Kathleen attended Echo Country School through 8th grade, then continued on to Pisgah High School and graduated in 1946. She married Orville Mensching on Jan. 30, 1947, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Council Bluffs. Married for 63 years, the couple had two children, Lorraine (Lori) and Marvin. Kathleen was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in Magnolia, and for several years was also the secretary of Zion Lutheran Church and Immanuel Lutheran Church in Logan when the two churches were combined.   Orville and Kathleen farmed for 50 years near Magnolia. Kathleen loved to garden, and used her green thumb to grow everything from potatoes to dill in the large expanse between their white farmhouse and the rolling fields of the Loess Hills beyond. The garden fed her family, friends and neighbors, who frequently stopped by for a game of cards. Kathleen loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren and looked forward to their visits in the summer. She also enjoyed cooking and quilting, and made a quilt or blanket for each of her grandchildren and great grandchildren. After retiring, Kathleen and Orville moved to Woodbine, where they lived for 12 years before moving to Harmony Court in Council Bluffs in 2009.    Kathleen is reunited with her husband, Orville; her son, Marvin; grandson, Bryan Malone; parents, Oliver and Estella Young; brother, Bill Young; and sister-in-law, Norita.    Interment: Soldier Valley Cemetery, Pisgah.
