Her funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 3, at the Federated Church in Mitchell with the Reverend Dr. Charles H. Richardson officiating. Interment will follow at Mitchell City Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Federated Church of Mitchell or to the Mitchell City park tree fund or to Nebraska Children's Home. Jones Mortuary in Mitchell is assisting the family with arrangements. Kathleen was born Dec. 3, 1920, in Scottsbluff, the daughter of Carl A. and Leona P. (Hawbaker) Buehler. She graduated from Gering High School. She was united in marriage to Loyd F. Durfee, May 12, 1946 in Gering. They resided in Mitchell. Kathleen began working in Mitchell for the Mitchell Bakery, Dr. Robert Hoagland, and for Dr. John Shaffer, and then later for Scottsbluff Internal Medicine in Scottsbluff, where she retired. Kathleen was a member of the Federated Church, where she taught Sunday School. She was a Den Mother for the Cub Scouts. She loved gardening, especially her roses, and was a Master Gardener for many years. She also volunteered for the County Fair as a horticultural Superintendent for eight years. Kathleen enjoyed playing bridge with friends, and loved her dog Brandi. She enjoyed following the Nebraska Cornhuskers, the Denver Broncos, and Colorado Rockies. Survivors include her husband, Loyd of 64 years; sons, Mike Durfee of Torrington, Bob Durfee of Mitchell; granddaughters, Jill Exley (Jon) of Centennial, Colo., Erin Durfee of Torrington; great-granddaughters, Avery Marie Exley, Zailey Grace Brown; sister, Lorine Zitterkopf of Gering; sister-in-law, Josephine Buehler of Gering; brother-in-law, Jim (Barbara) Durfee of Caldwell, Idaho; cousins and many nieces and nephews. Preceding her in death were her parents, older brother Wallace Buehler and younger brother Leland Buehler
