Kathryn was born May 20, 1915, at Chillicothe, Mo., the daughter of Andrew L. and Anna (Stith) Smith. She moved to Billings with her parents, where she was raised. She graduated from Billings High School in 1935. Kathryn married Robert R. Burns on Aug. 19, 1938, in Billings. They lived in Billings and she helped her husband with his business, The Top Shop. Read More	Kathryn Ella Smith Burns, age 89, of Billings, died Monday, June 28, 2004, at the Billings Health & Rehabilitation Community. Kathryn was born May 20, 1915, at Chillicothe, Mo., the daughter of Andrew L. and Anna (Stith) Smith. She moved to Billings with her parents, where she was raised. She graduated from Billings High School in 1935. Kathryn married Robert R. Burns on Aug. 19, 1938, in Billings. They lived in Billings and she helped her husband with his business, The Top Shop. In later years, Kathryn worked at the Yellowstone Boys Ranch. Kathryn enjoyed bowling, ceramics and doing fancy work. Kathryn was a lifetime member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church and earlier called the EUB Church. She was active in the Ladies Aid and Friendship Circle of the church and also had been a member of the Poly Rock Home Extension Club. Kathryn is survived by a daughter, Peggy Ann (Edward) Partridge of Billings; three brothers, Harry S. Smith of Seattle, Gene R. Smith of Eugene, Ore., and William J. Smith of Missouri; two grandchildren, Shannon (Richard) Grimm of Billings and Franklin Harrington of Las Vegas; and three great-grandchildren, Vincent and Robert Harrington and Olivetta Grimm. Kathryn is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews and their children. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Bob, in 1996; brothers, Leland and Harold; and two sisters, Mildred and Grace. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at The Evangelical United Methodist Church, 345 Broadwater Ave. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 1, at Smith's West Chapel, 304 34th St. West. Cremation will follow. Memorials may be made to the charity of choice. Smith West Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
