Description	:	Kathryn Emma Strohmaier, 90, passed away on August 12, 2016 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison, Iowa. She was a resident of River Hills Assisted Living in Keokuk, Iowa, Known as Kate, she was born in Keokuk, to Vera and Carl Russell Young on November 4, 1925. On December 25, 1945, she married John C. Strohmaier in the Lutheran Church in Keokuk. They were married for nearly 66 years until his death in 2011. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband John and sister Mary Delahoyde. Survivors include daughter Constance Rumford and husband Paul... Read More	Kathryn Emma Strohmaier, 90, passed away on August 12, 2016 at the Fort Madison Community Hospital in Fort Madison, Iowa. She was a resident of River Hills Assisted Living in Keokuk, Iowa, Known as Kate, she was born in Keokuk, to Vera and Carl Russell Young on November 4, 1925. On December 25, 1945, she married John C. Strohmaier in the Lutheran Church in Keokuk. They were married for nearly 66 years until his death in 2011. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband John and sister Mary Delahoyde. Survivors include daughter Constance Rumford and husband Paul from Surprise, Arizona, and son David C. Strohmaier and wife Carin-Anne from Van Nuys, California, one sister Alice Bryant of Montrose, and one nephew Bradley Bryant of Montrose. Kate was a 1943 graduate from Keokuk High School and attended Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois. She worked at State Central Savings Bank and later was a school secretary for 8 years at the Keokuk Junior High School. She was a member of the King's Daughter Friendship Circle. For 14 years John and Kate spent their winter months in Arizona and California. She started up the Keosippi Kickers in the fall of 2001 where she taught line dancing classes for 3 years. The Kickers are now in their 14th year of entertaining at nursing homes and other venues. She regularly attended First Christian Church and Bel Air Baptist Church in Keokuk. The funeral services will be on Tuesday, August 16, 2016 at 11:00am, at DeJong-Greaves Celebration of Life Center on 917 Blondeau Street. Visitation will be at 10:00am on Tuesday, August 16, 2016. Burial will be at the Keokuk National Cemetery next to her husband John. Memorial contributions to First Christian Church and Bel Air Baptist Church.
