(Gammill) Ewing on a farm near Angus, Nebraska, and passed away November 23, 1989, in Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 13 days. Marrs was born January 10, 1908, to George W. and Marion E. (Gammill) Ewing on a farm near Angus, Nebraska, and passed away November 23, 1989, in Bryan Memorial Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska, at the age of 81 years, 10 months and 13 days. She was baptized in infancy in the Presbyterian Church. The family moved to Nelson when she was a small child. She attended Nelson Public Schools and graduated from Nelson High School. She then attended two years of college at the University of Nebraska in Lincoln. She had a beautiful penmanship and taught many college students the art of handwriting. She has also lived in Colorado, California, Texas and Nebraska. She managed the Cliff Hotel in Nelson, worked as a nurse aid in the Nelson Good Samaritan Center and helped many family members when children or family were ill. She cared for many elderly people and had a genuine love for everyone. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother Melvin Ewing; an infant brother and sister; her four husbands, Don G. Gates, Edgar E. Berry, Corwin C. Pollack and Ernest W. Marrs. She is survived by her children, Dona Kay Buss and her husband George of Denver, Colorado, Jeanne Johnston and her husband Jerry of St. Charles, Missouri, Ed Berry and his wife Kathy of Chester, Nebraska, and Mary Mumford and her husband Bill, also of Chester; 18 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; a sister Mary Fawn Bacon of Sacramento, California; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Funeral services were held Monday, November 27, 1989, at 10:00 a.m. from the Klawitter-Price Funeral Home Chapel in Nelson, Nebraska, with Pastor David Loeschen officiating. Music was provided by organist Jan Schnitker playing a selection of "Beyond The Sunset." Casketbearers were Chris Mumford, Bruce Mumford, Jeff Berry, Don Buss, Tony Mumford and Larry __olson. Burial was in the Nelson Cemetery near Nelson, Nebraska. Klawitter-Price Funeral Home of Nelson was in charge of the arrangements. The Nelson Gazette (Nelson, NE), Thursday, November 30, 1989; pg. 5
