Description	:	Kathryn Howard was a musical prodigy violinist who had appeared on the concert stage as well as in vaudeville. She studied in Wichita, Kansas under Ralph Brokaw, and graduated from the Wichita School of Music about 1917 when just thirteen. Quote from an undated Wichita newspaper article: "Miss Kathryn Howard is well known in Wichita as a promising young violinist. The most striking characteristic of this young girl's playing is the broad, vibrant tone which she draws from the instrument and which resembles that of a mature artist. Kathryn furthered her education in Chicago and New York, where her teachers included Leopold Auer the famous Russian violinist who trained Zimbalist and Maude Powell. She also studied voice with Mme Valerie, and dance while in New York. She became ill from tuberculosis and was bedridden much of her last three years, dying at her parents home in Kansas City, MO Obituary from Kansas City, MO newspaper: "Kathryn Howard, 21 years old, died of pneumonia last night at her home, 4112 Warwick boulevard. Miss Howard returned about a year ago from New York, where she was studying the violin, because of ill health. She was the youngest graduate of the Wichita College of Music, completing her course at the age of 13 years. While in New York she studied under Leopold Auer and Victor Kuzdo.
