Funeral services and a celebration of her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 17, 2003, at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Eldora. Interment will be at a later date in East-lawn Memorial Gardens. Kathryn Jane Wilts was born on February 14, 1924 in New Providence, Iowa, the daughter of Wilson Hale and Martha Gladys Daniels Hadley. She was raised and educated in New Providence, graduating from the New Providence High School with the class of 1941. She later attended the Deaconess Hospital of Nursing in Marshalltown, and became a Registered Nurse in 1945. On September 3, 1947, Kathryn was united in marriage to Julius G. Wilts at New Providence, Iowa. She was employed as a Registered Nurse with the Eldora Community Hospital for over thirty years, retiring in the early eighties. Kathryn loved to golf, walk, bowl, dance, sing in the choir, and was very much a "people person". She loved and cared for many people, and treasured her family and faith. She was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ, the Church Choir, Women's Fellowship, P.E.O., the Pine Lake Country Club, and was a resident of Hardin County for over seventy years. Kathryn is survived by her son: Mark (Teresa Roling) Wilts of Marshalltown, daughter: Diane (Richard) Blackstock of Mayflower, Arkansas; Sister-in-law: Ethel Hadley of Cedar Rapids; Brother-in-law: Orville (Marjorie) Wilts of Steamboat Rock; three grandchildren:Maci Wilts of Marshalltown, Becky (Sam) Weiser of Conway, Arkansas, Jeff Blackstock of Conway Arkansas and one great-granddaughter Jessica Blackstock. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Julius in June of 1996, and two brothers-Joe & Robert Hadley.
