She attended Waterloo School of Beauty after graduation, and worked at Milady’s Beauty Shop in Belle Plaine for many years. She later opened her own beauty shop and worked there until her marriage. She married Sam Zimmerman December 29, 1944 in Belle Plaine. They lived in Belle Plaine all their lives. After Sam died she stayed in the family home until 2013 when she moved to Sunny Hill Care Center in Tama. She and Sam had two children, Sam Jr. and Danny. She worked at Rexall Drug Store and Clear’s Department Store in Belle Plaine but was primarily a housewife and mother. She was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, a card club, NARVE, a proud lifelong member of Western Bohemian Fraternal Association, and American Legion Auxiliary. Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents; husband; son, Sam Jr.; siblings, Carl Tehan, Albia Wandling and Pauline Suchy.
