Description	:	Katherine and her two children Kenneth and Kelly were killed in a car-truck collision near Amana, Iowa, late Tuesday night, May 12, 1964, during a heavy rainstorm. The crash occurred on Highway 220 about five miles northwest of Amana. The family lived in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, until about a year ago when they moved to Newhall. Katherine’s husband, Kenneth Hanshaw, was injured in the accident, and he was taken to St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. Kathryn graduated from Ottumwa High School in May 1955. She was a top student in high school, being on both the scholarship and citizenship honor rolls. She was editor of the Ottumwa Argus Annual for three years, a member of the Girls Athletic Association and Commercial Clubs and was also elected to Torch Club. Kathryn was also worthy advisor of the Order of Rainbow for Girls during her senior year. She was married to Kenneth Mac Hanshaw on August 13, 1960, at Palmyra, Missouri. Besides her husband, survivors included her parents, living in Phoeniz, Arizona; one brother, Robert E. Miller, of Los Angeles; and her grandmother, Mrs. Estelle Fleer, of Ottumwa. One brother, Richard Wayne Miller, preceded her in death.
