Jacob and Mary Frickel offered to take care of Katie and later adopted her. ****** Loveland Reporter Herald, Thursday, May 12, 1977 Loveland, Colorado Kathryn Frickel Bauer was born in Frank, Russia, on March 3, 1897. At the age of six months, she and her parents came to the United States and settled at McCook, NE. At the age of one, they moved on to settle in Loveland. Her parents, Jacob and Mary Frickel, were charter members of First Congregational Church in Loveland, and held some of the first services in their home. She grew from infancy in the house in which she and her husband have been making their home. Kathryn was confirmed in the Congregational Church in March, 1913, and was later married there to Henry Bauer on January 29, 1918. (They have been married for 59 years.) To this marriage was born two children, a son, Clyde Bauer, of Fort Collins, and a daughter, Ruth Potter of Alpine, California. Henry and Kathryn lived on a farm south of Loveland from 1918 - 1939. They moved back to the Frickel house in 1939, to assist Jacob and Mary who were in failing health. Kathryn passed away in her home quietly on May 10, 1977. She is survived by her husband, Henry, her son, Clyde, and her daughter, Ruth. Also a sister, Anna Lenhardt, Odessa, Washington, and several half-brothers and sisters who live in Washington. She is also survived by four grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. Services are Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Hunter’s Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Robert J Peters officiating. Burial is at Loveland Burial Park.
