Kathryn was born in Walnut, Iowa on July 3, 1921. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 44 years, Lester Sievers. She is survived by her three children: Larry Sievers of Woodburn, OR; Stan Sievers and his wife Shirley of Bossier City, LA; Mary Mangham of Bossier City, LA; eight grandchildren; and sixteen great grandchildren. Kathryn was born and raised on a farm in Walnut, Iowa and lived in that area until she was eighty years old. In 1942, she married Lester Sievers and together they farmed until his death in 1986. In 2000, Kathryn moved to Bossier City, LA to be closer to her children. She loved the farm life and the close family ties which evolved from working everyday with her family. Kathryn was a teacher, 4-H leader, and an avid gardener and quilter. She was also very involved in church activities and community affairs. Kathryn will be dearly missed by a host of family and friends. The family wishes to give special thanks to Louise White, Catherine Broadway, and the staff of Horizon Bay Assisted Living Center and Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home for their care and devotion to our mother in her later years. Funeral services will be held in Walnut, Iowa at St. Patrick's Catholic Church on Wednesday, December 2, 2009. The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials to The St. Vincent DePaul Society of St. Jude's Catholic Church in Bossier City, LA.
