Description	:	Kathryn Ruth Hannum, 97, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Sunnybrook Assisted Living. Born Oct. 4, 1914, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Taft Smith. On July 24, 1935, she married Robert Wendell Hannum in Monmouth, Ill. He died in June 1987. Read More	Kathryn Ruth Hannum, 97, of Mount Pleasant died Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2011, at Sunnybrook Assisted Living. Born Oct. 4, 1914, in Mount Pleasant, she was the daughter of Clarence and Ethel Taft Smith. On July 24, 1935, she married Robert Wendell Hannum in Monmouth, Ill. He died in June 1987. Mrs. Hannum worked 22 years as a secretary at her husband's Hannum's Plumbing and retired in 1976 when they sold the business. She attended Mount Pleasant schools and graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1933. She was a member of First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She served as a Girl Scout leader and was involved with Henry County Health Center Auxiliary, TTT Chapter DD, Questers, Country Club on the River and several bridge clubs. She enjoyed sewing, quilting and crocheting. Survivors include five daughters, Ethel Harvoy of Sun City, Ariz., Sally Leatherby of Sacramento, Calif., Delores Brooks of Roseville, Calif., Nancy Wittich of Mount Pleasant and Kathy Hannum of Waukon; two sisters, Louise Trueblood of Mount Pleasant and Beverly Griggs of Washington; one brother, Wendell Smith of Mount Pleasant; 20 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and 21 great-great-grandchildren. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by one son, one grandchild, one great-grandchild, two great-great-grandchildren, her parents, four brothers and one sister. Visitation will be from noon to 7 p.m. Monday at Olson-Powell Memorial Chapel in Mount Pleasant, where family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. The funeral for Mrs. Hannum will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at First United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Herb Shafer officiating. Burial will be in Forest Home Cemetery. Memorials have been established for Girl Scouts of Shining Trail Council, Inc. and First United Methodist Church.
