Kathy was born July 25, 1953, in Union County, NC, a daughter of the late William Franklin Burgess and Christine McManus Burgess. A cum laude graduate of Queens University, Kathy continued her studies at Wingate University, UNC-Charlotte, and High Point University with a focus on education. Learning and teaching others were a passion throughout her life. With a belief that we should all pass down knowledge to the next generation, Kathy spent over a decade with Union County Public Schools, teaching third and fourth grade at Wesley Chapel Elementary. Always looking up and moving forward, her great outlook on life and sense of humor brought a smile out in everyone around her. A spiritual being who liked things simple, her beautiful heart will continue to be cherished by the family and community she loved deeply. Kathy is survived by her dedicated husband of 48 years, David Allred, their son, Kyle Allred (Sarah Anne), her brothers; Kent Burgess (Shelby), Stan Burgess (Ellen), her sister, Judy Keziah, and the grandchildren she adored; Elijah, Desirea, Jessie, Wyatt, Joseph, and Sam. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Chucky Burgess. Although flowers are appreciated, the Allred family requests memorials in Kathy’s honor be made to Sandy Ridge Baptist Church. Davis Funeral Service is honored to service the Allred family.
