Kathy (Craven) Grabau, was born in Boone, Iowa on May 24, 1952, the daughter of Laverne and Zelma (Fairchild) Craven. She graduated from Boone High School in 1970. On July 26, 1991, Kathy married Karl ‘Doc’ Grabau in Boone, Iowa. Over the years, Kathy worked in Des Moines for the State of Iowa in the Department of Human Services, managed the canteen at the Boone V.F.W. Post, worked as a waitress at the former Cyclone Truck Stop in Ames, and as a marketer for CDS in Boone. Kathy loved spending time with her grandchildren and attending their activities, especially their sporting events where she would always take photos and oftentimes after game treats. She enjoyed baking, especially cakes and cupcakes, and in earlier years, flower gardening. Kathy also loved the companionship of her sheltie dog, Molly and trips to Guthrie Center. Kathy was a life-long member of Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone, life member of the V.F.W. Post 817 Auxiliary in Boone, and the Ames American Legion Auxiliary. She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Rick Craven, and Molly, her dog. Kathy is survived by her husband, ‘Doc’ of Boone; a son, Joe Losh and wife, Lori of Boone; a brother, Randy Craven and wife, Kathi of Boone; two stepsons, Matt Grabau and wife, Shellie and Brandon Grabau and wife, Amber all of Boone; two sisters-in-laws, Jody Craven of Guthrie Center and Pam (Craven) Reynolds and husband, Rod of Urbandale; several grandchildren, step grandchildren, and her first great grandson, to be born in August. Also surviving are two nieces, Tanya Craven and Jennifer Schoff and husband, Alan, and two nephews, Spike Craven and wife, Amy and Luke Craven and wife, Linda.
