She was a retired business manager at Simmons Ford in Pilot Mtn. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, James W. Smith; brothers, Bill T. Stanley, John R. Read More	ELKIN, NC ~ Kay Frances Stanley Smith of Elkin, NC, born July 15, 1936 (age 77) passed away on January 30, 2014. She was born in Rockford, NC to the late Eugene S. and Mary L. Stanley. She was a retired business manager at Simmons Ford in Pilot Mtn. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband, James W. Smith; brothers, Bill T. Stanley, John R. Stanley, Jim G. Stanley; son, Keith J. Hege and granddaughter, Samantha Hege. Kay enjoyed a productive life with family and friends and her passion was playing and watching basketball. Her greatest joys in her life were her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and family pets which she loved and adored. She leaves behind her loving children, Barry Hege (Laura) of Winston-Salem, NC, Kevin Hege (Susan) of Elkin, NC, Scarlette Hege of Stanley, NC; step-son, Jimmy Smith (Patricia) of Westfield, NC; grandchildren, Angela Corns of Pilot Mtn., NC, Dustin Hege of Elkin, NC, Thomas Smith of Cockeysville, MD, Amanda Hege Burton (David) of State Road, NC, Ben, Quinn, Nicholas and Sydney Hege of Winston-Salem, NC; great-grandchildren, Tyler and Channing Corns of Pilot Mtn., NC, Gabriel Martin Hege of Elkin, NC, Addison and Ava Burton of State Road, NC; sister, Mary Nell Coe of Mt. Airy, NC; and numerous family and friends. Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, February 2, 2014 at Johnson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. John Attaway officiating. A private graveside service will follow at Double Creek Church of Christ in Copeland, NC for immediate family only. The family will receive friends from 1:00-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at Johnson Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be made to Double Creek Church of Christ Cemetery Fund. 674 Double Creek Rd Dobson, NC 27017 Johnson Funeral Home is serving the Smith family.
