Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 30, at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home, with Rev. Bobby Shomo, Iowa River Hospice chaplain, officiating. He will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Memorial Gardens with flag-folding honors by the Marshalltown American Legion Frank Lewis Glick Post #46. Friends may call at the Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home after 4 p.m. on Thursday afternoon. Keith's family will be present to receive frineds from 6 - 8 p.m. at the funeral home. A memorial tribute will be presented during the visitation hours. A fellowship and luncheon will follow at the Moose Lodge, 1516 E. Olive St. The Estel-Perrin-Avey Funeral Home has been entrusted by the Kerr family with Keith's final arrangements. Keith was born on June 10, 1922, at Farifax, SD, one of seven children born to John and Edna Olive (Havens) Kerr. He received his education in the area of his birth and moved with his family to Marshalltown in approximately 1939, where he attended Marshalltown High School. On April 26, 1942, he was united in marriage to Doris Dobson in Marshalltown. In November of that same year, he enlisted in the United States Army and served until receiving his honorable discharge in December of 1945. He returned to his wife in Marshalltown where they have resided ever since. Mr. Kerr was employed by Fisher Controls for 43 years until retiring in 1984. Mr. Kerr was honored to be a member of the UAW Local #893 Retirees, the VFW and the American Legion. Left to mourn his loss are his loving wife of 59 years, six children: Janice (Mrs. David) Yocum of Ft. Dodge, Nancy (Mrs. Russ) McFarland of Marshalltown, Sandra Kay Kerr and Joyce Elaine Kerr, both of Denver, Colo., Bradley Kerr of Kennewick, Wash. and Keith Kim (Mary) Kerr of Marshalltown, 11 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving him are two brothers: rolland (Betty) Kerr of Newburg, Ore. and Craig (Phyllis) Kerr of Marshalltown; and a sister, Alice Butler, also of Marshalltown, nieces, nephews and a host of friends. Gone on before were his parents, his son Chad on Nov. 5, 1993, and three brothers, Robert, John "Jack" and Ross.
