Services will be at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church at Stanton at 10:30 a.m. Thursday with burial in the Stanton Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary. --- He was born June 14, 1928, in Osmond, the son of John and Emma (Kluender) Aaberg, and baptized July 1, 1928, at Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce, and confirmed May 28, 1944, at Grace Lutheran Church, Norfolk. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m. Wednesday at Shultz-Vogel-Johnson Mortuary. --- He was born June 14, 1928, in Osmond, the son of John and Emma (Kluender) Aaberg, and baptized July 1, 1928, at Zion Lutheran Church, Pierce, and confirmed May 28, 1944, at Grace Lutheran Church, Norfolk. Keith attended Madison County rural school near Norfolk and attended Norfolk High School. He entered the U.S. Army Feb. 18, 1952, serving in an artillery unit until Feb. 17, 1954. After military service he went back to farm with his dad. Keith was a lifelong farmer, and he loved his John Deere tractors. Keith married Darlene Lienemann on June 12, 1955, at St. John's Lutheran Church in Randolph. To this union three children were born, Kurt, Alan and Tracy. Keith was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Stanton, serving as trustee. He served on the board of directors of Elkhorn Valley Milk Association. In 1974, he was awarded a Lower Elkhorn Natural Resources District award. He was honored as one of the top three conservation farmers in Stanton County and chosen for the conservation farming practices award by the Sioux City Chamber of Commerce and Sioux City Journal-Tribune in 1974. Keith retired from farming in 1996, and his son, Alan, continues to operate the farm. Keith and Darlene celebrated their golden wedding anniversary in June 2005 with family and friends. Survivors include his wife, Darlene Aaberg of Stanton; three children, Kurt and Nancy Aaberg of Stanton, Alan and Susan Aaberg of Stanton and Tracy Aaberg of Valentine; four grandchildren, Kimberly, Jennifer, Michelle and Justin Aaberg; one sister, JoAnn and Robert Alasky of Clarksburg, W.Va.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two half-brothers, Henry and Levi; one sister and her husband, Lydia Anne and Marvin Lienemann; and two sisters-in-law, Vernelda Lienemann and Noreen Aaberg. The Rev. David Koelpin will officiate. Music will be by organist Rae Caskey and the congregation. Norfolk Daily News; November 27, 2006
