Description	:	Keith Rushing, 84, of Badin Lake passed away Friday August 16, 2013 in his home. His funeral service will be held at 11 AM Monday August 19th, 2013 at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, Monroe with Rev. Derald Smith, Dr. Kenneth Thomas, and Rev. Ron Honeycutt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2 until 4 PM Sunday afternoon at Stanly Funeral Home, 1835 Badin Rd., Albemarle NC, 28001. Born October 29, 1928 in Union County, NC, he was the son of the late Andrew and Tiny Baucom Rushing. He attended New Salem School and was owner of Fairview Church Furniture Co., Inc. and Monroe Wood Products. A member of Bethlehem Presbyterian Church he formerly served as Deacon and on various committees in the church. He was an independent salesman for Chemical Coatings for over 20 years, served as the first Fire Chief of the Fairview Volunteer Fire Department and was a Sergeant with the Union County Sherriff Department. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Hazel Simpson Rushing. Other survivors include son Dennis Rushing of Marshville, daughters Becki Rushing Rice of Badin Lake, Cathy Rushing Deason and husband Bill of Monroe, Carol Rushing Hinson and husband Pete of Badin Lake, brother Troy Rushing of Monroe, sister Annie Lee Little of Monroe, 7 grandchildren: Monica, Brian, and Todd Rushing, Travis and Dustin Hinson, Daniel Deason, and Eric Rice, 5 great grandchildren: James and Katelyn Elliott, Madison Hinson, and Emma and Avery Rushing. He was preceded in death by granddaughter Cora Quintina Hinson, sister Gertrude Connell McGee, and brothers Theodore, Vance, J. C., Trancy, Joe and Ray Rushing. The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice of Stanly County, 960 N 1st St, Albemarle, NC 28001. The family also wishes to express their special thanks to Mr. Rushing's Hospice "Angels" Alicia and Robin.
