The son of John and Esther Grimsley Salter, he was born March 10, 1895, at Douds, and had been a resident of Ottumwas most of his life. He was an electrician from 1920 until his retirement in 1958 and held an honorary electrician's license from the city. He was a member of St. Mary's Church and of Electricians Local 173. The body is at the Reece Funeral Home.
