Description	:	Kemp C. Hopkins, 90, of Palmer, died on Monday, January 11, 2010, at Heritage Living Center in St. Paul. Graveside services will be Monday, January 18, 2010, at 11:00 a.m. at the Inman Cemetery near Inman, Nebraska with Rev. Randy Schmeichel officiating. Military rites will be by O'Neill American Legion. Solt Funeral Home in Central City is in charge of the arrangements. Kemp was born on December 25, 1919, in Inman to James R. and Iva Mae (Morey) Hopkins. He grew up in Inman and received his education in the Inman Schools. After completing his schooling, Kemp worked on farms in Iowa. Kemp entered the United States Army on February 1, 1941 and served in Africa and Italy. He was honorably discharged on May 17, 1945. He was united in marriage to Ellen Cummins and to this union five daughters were born. They made their home in Idaho, where Kemp farmed and drove truck. On February 19, 1971, Kemp married Margaret Long. They moved to Palmer in 1975, and Kemp worked for the Village of Palmer, B. McIntire farms near Wolbach and for Brownie Davis at the gravel pits. Kemp retired in the early 1980's, living in Palmer until his death. Margaret died in 1999. Kemp was a member of the United Methodist Church, the VFW, and he enjoyed traveling, working on small engines, and fishing. Those left to cherish his memory are his children – Carol and Cecil Davis of MacClenny, Florida; Teri and Bill Broner of Twin Falls, Idaho; Penny and Richard Wonenberg of Boise, Idaho; Connie and Jim Hold of Seal Rock, Oregon; and Lucy and John Bales of Waldport, Oregon; 12 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; two sisters – Ellen and Virginia; and one brother Larry. He was preceded in death by his wife, grandson- Emory Payton, granddaughter – Lori Wilkinson; four sisters – Bab, Jeannette, Edna, and Estella; and one brother – Don.
