She had attended school in the Montisorri School in Wassenaar, the Netherlands; Terra Linda, California; Aurora, Nebraska; Fairbanks, Alaska; San Rafael, California; and she graduated from Cypress Creek High School in Houston, Texas. She attended both Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas, and the American College in London. Some of Kendall's activities have included: Student representative on 1991 Student Collection Fashion Show committee in aid of Cottage Home Charity; Fashion Council representative for 1990-91 academic year; Organizer and promotions director of Neo Spirit Design Portfolio, ‘90-91; Chief coordinator of September 1990 Student Fashion Show raising 2000 (pounds English currency) in aid of Cottage Homes Charity; Member of Big Brother/Sister development committee '90, '91; President of the "Fine Arts Club" (Cypress Creek High School); and played trombone in high school in both Alaska and California. Miss Nielsen worked at a number of positions during school education including Layne Bryant Fashions and Rix Funeral Directors in Lubbock, Texas and Ibis London Limited (Women's wear division) in the United Kingdom. Within a group of four she had originated a new United Kingdom fashion firm and had signed a contract as "Fashion designer and personal assistant" tom M. Juraslava of "Juraslava Fashions" in London, England
