Read More	Kendell Smith 1947-2018 It is with heartfelt feelings and sadness that we announce the passing of Kendell Smith on April 3, 2018, after a brave and courageous fight with cancer. Ken went to be with his Lord at the QEII Health Sciences Centre in Halifax with his loving family by his side, including his devoted wife of 45 years, Linda. His joy was found in teaching and sharing heartfelt moments with his daughter Brenda, including years spent coaching her softball team, and in climbing trees with his grandson Logan (age 7). Ken will always be remembered by his family and friends for his love of cars, being a sports encyclopedia, playing Crokinole with the kids, and four wheeling with his brother Gerald. Born in Bridgewater, NS on July 1, 1947, growing up Kendell loved hunting and fishing with his family and friends, and would go on long walks with them to reach the best spots, often roughing it overnight in old wood camps. He loved the outdoors and would make the drive from Dartmouth to Nineveh just to visit his woodland property and find solitude in nature. He started work at an early age, cutting pulp wood and pit props. After high school, Ken was fortunate to find a career that he loved, working at a number of surveying and engineering companies, completing his career with WSP Engineering. He excelled in his field, and greatly enjoyed the company of his co-workers. A long-time resident of Dartmouth, Ken is survived by his wife Linda (Ernst) Smith, daughter Brenda, son-in-law Chris MacLeod, grandson Logan, siblings Paul Smith, Barbara Beck Delong, Gerald (and Donna) Smith, brother-in-law Wayne Mackay, and a large number of nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by parents Oren and Evelyn (Crouse) Smith, sibling Shirley, and brother-in-law Joseph Beck and Carl Delong. The family would like to express their gratitude to the doctors and staff at the Centennial and Dickson Buildings of the QEII hospital who treated Kendell as family during his battle with cancer to the end. Visitation will be held from 7 – 9 p.m. on Monday April 9th with a Service officiated by Reverend Dr. Vance Arbeau on Tuesday April 10th at 11:00am, both in R.A. Corkum Funeral Home, Wileville, NS. Burial and reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bethel United Baptist Church, where Ken was a long-term member and deacon, or The Canadian Cancer Society.
