Description	:	Kenneth ‘Abe' Lyerly Sr. of Johnsonville and Lake City passed away June 10, 2012. He was born January 5, 1925, son of the late Arthur and Eleanor Lyerly. He was preceded in death by his wife Rebe Gaskins Lyerly, wife Ethelene Timmons Lyerly, and grandson Jabe Vernon Hardee II. He is survived by daughters Shirley (Jabe) Hardee and Rena (Leon) Finley; son Kenneth (Carol) Lyerly Jr.; grandsons Abe, Garth, Philip and Colin; granddaughters Shirena and Ashley; and great grandchildren Jake, Julie, Kent, Dylan, Reid, and Avery. He was born January 5, 1925, son of the late Arthur and Eleanor Lyerly. He was preceded in death by his wife Rebe Gaskins Lyerly, wife Ethelene Timmons Lyerly, and grandson Jabe Vernon Hardee II. He is survived by daughters Shirley (Jabe) Hardee and Rena (Leon) Finley; son Kenneth (Carol) Lyerly Jr.; grandsons Abe, Garth, Philip and Colin; granddaughters Shirena and Ashley; and great grandchildren Jake, Julie, Kent, Dylan, Reid, and Avery. Abe was a World War II veteran, local businessman for over 50 years, and owner of Ken's TrueValue Hardware store in Johnsonville. He was a Shriner, a 32nd degree Mason with the Leo Lodge where he served for 50 years, as well as an active member in the Johnsonville American Legion. He was also a member of Friendfield Baptist Church. Funeral services, conducted by Morris Funeral Home of Hemingway, will be held Wednesday, June 13, 2012, at 11:00AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment, with Masonic rites, will follow in the Garden of Devotion cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Tuesday, June 12, 2012, from 6:00PM – 8:00PM. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children, Office of Development, 2900 Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, FL, 33607 or to Johnsonville United Methodist Church, P. O. Box 449, Johnsonville, SC 29555.
