Graveside services will be following the luncheon 1:00 p.m. Friday at Thabor Lutheran Cemetery in Wausa, Nebraska. Military Honors will be provided by United States Marine Corps Honor Guard and American Legion Riders. Visitation will be one hour prior to the services. Kenneth “Kenny” Wrick, son of Albert and Marie Wrick, was born December 26, 1932, near Wausa on his parents’ farm. He was baptized and confirmed at Golgotha Lutheran Church. Kenneth attended District 158 country school before attending Wausa High School, graduating in 1950. Kenneth farmed with his Dad until 1952 when he entered the United States Marine Corps. He served with the Helicopter Marine Rescue in Korea and was honorably discharged in 1955. Kenneth married Vendla Burns at the Mission Covenant Church in Wausa in 1956. Kenneth and Vendla lived in Norfolk while he attended Norfolk Junior College. He worked at the Ideal Cement Plant in Fort Collins, Colorado for 10 years before the couple moved to Wakefield, Nebraska where Kenneth was a Moormon Feed salesman and taught the confirmation class at St. John’s Lutheran Missouri Church. Getting a chance to farm again, Kenneth and Vendla returned to Wausa. The couple joined Thabor Lutheran Church where he served on the church board and also ushered. Kenneth served two terms as the commander of the American Legion. After retiring from farming, he worked for Wausa Public Schools for 10 years. Kenneth loved hunting, fishing, camping, reading, gardening, and enjoyed his friends, but especially his family. You would usually see Kenneth and his wife together and they enjoyed going on car rides. He recently received the “Ambassador For Peace” medal from the Republic of Korea. Kenneth is survived by his wife, Vendla; daughters, Cynthia (Greg) Thomas of Lincoln and Donna (James) McGinn of Norfolk; sons, Gregory (Tamie) Wrick of Madison and Bruce (Lisa) Wrick of Aurora; 15 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; sisters, Arlene Schroeder of Norfolk, Phyllis Nelson of Norfolk, Marilyn Anderson of Wausa, Linda Moore of Florida; and sister-in-law, Beverly Wrick of Wausa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Marie Wrick; sister and her husband, Mardell (James) Lindgren; brother, Wayne Wrick; and grandchildren, Stephanie Wrick and Desiree Wrick.
