Promoted to Private First Class. 17 March, 1944 embarked Naval Transport. 20 March, 1944 landed on Emirau Island, St Mathias Group. 10 April, 1944 embarked USS Elmore (APA-42). 13 April, 1944 arrived at Guadalcanal based at Tassaforanga Point. 18 April, 1944 designated B Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, 1st Provisional Marine Brigade. 1 June, 1944 embarked an LST at Guadalcanal. 6-10 June, 1944 at Kwajalein Atoll, Marshalls. 5-14 July, 1944 at Eniwetok Atoll, Marshalls. 21 July, 1944 landed Beach White Two Guam D-Day and participated in combat operations until Killed in Action 22 July, 1944. Next of Kin: Mother, Mrs Ollie F Hartley, Route One, Selknap, Iowa. Father Lee Henderson (18-1928). Initially buried in Plot C, Row 19, Grave 12 in USAF Cemetery Guam #2, Agat, Guam. 1949 returned to US for permanent burial in Ottumwa, Iowa.
