Kenneth died Thursday, September 7, 2017, at Good Samaritan Society in Bloomfield. Kenneth Duane Ober, son of Jesse and Ruby (Benedict) Ober, was born April 28, 1928, in Plainview, Nebraska. He attended a country school by Creighton until the eighth grade, when he was needed on the farm. Kenny married Kathleen Bessmer on June 27, 1950. They farmed until 1956, when they moved into Plainview where he got his first job in dirt construction. He fell in love with the work and had a natural talent for it. In 1958, Kenny bought his first machine, Ole Susie, moved to Bloomfield, and Ober Construction Co. was established. Kenny continued in the dirt business until 2009. He touched most of the dirt in Knox County and surrounding areas with building dams, the Devil’s Nest, feed yards, roads, and landscaping. During Kenny and Kathy’s marriage of 32 years, seven children were born, Connie, Ricky, Randy, Debbie, Patti, Sandi, and Kandi. In 1983, after Kathy’s death in 1982, Kenny married Ramona Jordan Stark. In this 25 year marriage, they did a lot of traveling and having fun with friends. Kenny had a love for flowers and plants, Nebraska football, dancing, and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Ramona passed away in 2009. On September 7, 2017, Kenny passed away at Good Samaritan Society in Bloomfield at the age of 89. Survivors include daughters, Connie Kuhl, Debbie (Jerry) Nipp, Patti (Doug) Ketelsen, Sandi (Corey) Miller, and Kandi (Rick) Eisenhauer; daughter-in-law, Cheryl Karel Ober; 17 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and Pal, his chocolate lab. Kenny was preceded in death by Kathy and Ramona; sons, Ricky and Randy; granddaughter, Tonya; his parents; two brothers, Virgil and Clayton; and sister, Vivian Musick. ...The Bloomfield Monitor, provided by Vicky Johnson
