His family lived near Carlock before moving 10 miles south of Colome, where they operated a country store near the Stewart Hall. Read More	Kenneth Dwight Adams was born in Gregory on August 26, 1930 to Edward E. and C. Cecelia (Stoltenberg) Adams. His family lived near Carlock before moving 10 miles south of Colome, where they operated a country store near the Stewart Hall. As a boy Ken attended country school and graduated from Colome High School in 1948 then joined the Army National Guard. Ken began dating Leila Kinzer in 1949 and they were married in Colome on June 10, 1951. Ken and Leila lived in Winner for a short time, and then moved to Gregory in December of 1951. Over the next five years, three sons and one daughter were born into this union. Ken managed, then purchased, a cream station naming it Ken's Dairy where he bought and sold cream & eggs, later adding Gillette Dairy Products which he delivered door to door. He also operated the Park Drive-In where you could get clowns, dip tops and other tasty treats. After selling Ken's Dairy in the 70's, Ken continued working for the next 40 years, first at Skip's Clothing, then as a carpenter and most recently as the manager of the Gregory Municipal Airport. Ken truly had a love of flying and airplanes. As a youngster, he watched barnstormers fly over his parents' home which influenced him to make model airplanes from wooden cheese boxes and aluminum cans. Ken took flying lessons and earned his private pilot license in 1964. Ken was a member of the Gregory Flying Club and accumulated over 1000 hours of flying experience. Some may remember getting a plane ride with Ken during one of the Flying Club's hangar parties. Ken built wooden boats and with his friends enjoyed restoring and repairing aircraft and riding their Harley-Davidsons. In May of 2006 Ken was hired as the manager of the Gregory airport where he worked with state and federal transportation agencies to get funding for improving the airfield. In July of 2008 he coordinated the Gregory Air Show in conjunction with the dedication of Flynn Field. Another of Ken's passions was the Buttes Observation Park & Walking Trail. Ken played a major role in obtaining funding for these projects and saw them through to completion. Ken was a member of Toastmasters, Lion's Club, Gregory Commercial Club, Gregory Volunteer Fire Department, Gregory Investment Club and Gregory City Council. Because of Ken's commitment to the Gregory community, he was honored by Mayor Dan DeSmet and the Gregory City Council who declared October 15, 2011 as Ken Adams Day. Ken was transferred to the Rosebud Country Care Center of Gregory on March 12, 2012, and passed away on March 14, 2012, at the age of 81 years. Ken was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Glenda Jean Adams; three sisters: Mildred and husband Bob Vawser, Florence and husband Evan Fredericksen, and Orel Isham; two brothers: Lawrence and wife Martha, and Darrel; two sisters-in-law: Marjorie Kinzer and Erna Kinzer; and two brothers-in-law: George Syfie and Ronald Kinzer.
