Description	:	Kenneth became ill with tuberculosis of the hip when he was 4.5 years old. He had a cast put on him at Shriners Hospital in Minneapolis, MN. Every few months he would need to return and get a new cast. In school he played sports, mainly basketball. His disease worsened. He spent a year in the San Haven hospital (North Dakota State Tuberculosis Sanitorium). After he passed away the Wing and Regan schools would play a memorial basketball game in his memory each year. The proceeds from the games were given to the Tuberculosis Fund. -------- Wing Man Succumbs At Dunseith Friday Kenneth E. Wanttaja, 19, Wing, died at San Haven, Dunseith, Friday morning. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. S. William Wanttaja, Wing. The youth was born in Bismarck, Sept. 18, 1931. The family later moved to the Wing vicinity. He attended rural grade schools near Wing, and also Wing high school. He was graduated from the Regan high school in 1950. He was a member of the Suomi Lutheran church at Wing. Kenneth leaves his parents, a brother, Willis, Wing, a sister, Mrs. Wayne Hickel, Regan, and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Olson, Wing. Funeral services will be held from the Bethlehem Lutheran church at Wing at 2 p. m. Wednesday. The Rev. Opie S. Rindahl, Bismarck, will officiate. Burial will be made in Union cemetery, Trygg township. The body is at the Boelter funeral home, Bismarck. - Bismarck Tribune, July 7, 1951
