He was preceded in death by his daughter Megan, a sister, Christine Zaugg, and grandparents, Thomas and Elfie Gibney and Adam and Agnes Schulte. Ken was born on May 27, 1956 in Cedar Rapids the son of Edward and Mary Jane Gibney. He grew up on a farm in rural Watkins and graduated from Norway High School in 1974. He received his Associate Degree from Kirkwood Community College. He married Darlene Mae Deterding on April 15, 1989 in Watkins. Ken was employed by Honeywell as a software engineer. Ken was a past board president of Xavier High School and volunteered at the St. Jude Sweet Corn Festival and at Xavier High School in the theater department. Ken was a loving father, son, and husband. He was an avid reader, always enjoyed playing a cards especially euchre, and loved cheering on the Green Bay Packers. He enjoyed music and singing, and played the bass guitar in several bands. Ken was very generous with his time. He would do anything for anyone that needed help. He was a jack of all trades and could fix just about anything. He was loved more than words can say and will be missed by the many whose lives he touched.
